The Texas Lone Star Tartan was created in 2012 by Lanora Davidson. It is manufactured in Scotland, by House of Edgar, and is registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans. The Scottish Register of Tartans was established by an act of the Scottish Parliament in 2008, to protect, promote and preserve tartan patterns. The Register is a database of tartan designs, maintained by the National Records of Scotland.
Inspired by the bold colors of the Texas state flag, the Texas Lone Star Tartan colors represent blue for loyalty, white for purity, and red for bravery. Lanora Davidson, designer of the Texas Lone Star Tartan, remembered the flag on the stage of her school auditorium had a halo of gold fringe, and so added a touch of gold to this tartan.
